Hello A&D!

We are now accepting entries for the annual Art and Design Undergraduate Exhibition *and* the next Westwood. Interested students should bring their work to the galleries. All entry forms are available onsite. Key points below:

·         We are accepting entries Monday – Wednesday, 10 am – 5 pm.

·         Students can submit entries for one or both opportunities; entry is separate for each competition.

·         The Undergraduate Exhibition is limited to undergraduate students, and work must have been created for an A&D course.

·         Westwood entries can be any medium, do not have to have been created for an A&D course, and graduate students are also eligible to enter.

·         Timing is such that works can be exhibited in both shows – there is no conflict.

Let me know if you have any questions. Details can be found on the Rueff Galleries website and in the galleries. Please encourage your students to enter! So far, my limited and informal polling suggests that students have not yet heard about these opportunities from their instructors. Please share!!

Don't forget to leave a feedback about the documentary on George Rousse and feedback about the video art exhibition, Still Moving at the Rueff Gallery (the show is taken down)

They are due by the 10th, Wednesday.

Also, we are meeting at WTHR Hall at 7:30 for Dick Blau's talk on Wednesday instead of meeting at 5:30 for the class.

Hello Everyone,

 On Thursday Feb 11 at 11:30-1:20 DICK BLAU will hold a photography workshop with Lynn's AD119-1 class and anyone interested. He would like students to send him some (no more than 2 small jpegs) of their pictures (dickblau@gmail.com) and also to send him one comment or question about one image from his book THICKER THAN WATER  (images of which are available here on his website:  

http://dickblau.com/thicker-than-water/) or from POLKA HEARTLAND.

You are required to come to the talk, Feb 10th, WTHR 172 at 7:30PM. In the beginning of the semester, we have agreed that everyone would be able to attend the talk, so the whole class is meeting at WTHR 172 at 7:30 instead of having a class at 5:30. 

Also anyone interested in workshop MUST send him questions or comments about his work. Please do send him any photographs you have taken that you think you'd like him to comment on.

STILL MOVING

January 25 – February 5, 2016

Artist talk and reception: Wednesday, February 3^rd, 12:00 – 2 pm.
Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries, Pao Hall

Please join us for STILL MOVING, an exhibition co-curated by Joseph Mougel, assistant professor of art at the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Purdue’s assistant professor of photography, Min Kim Park. The exhibition addresses the issues of photography and moving image through the work of eight nationally and internationally recognized artists: Cecelia Condit, Charles Gick, Joseph Mougel, Stephen Hilyard, Kevin Cooley, Hans Gindlesberger, Walker Pickering, and Min Kim Park. The exhibition is currently on display in the Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries in Pao Hall and will remain up through Friday, February 5^th.

Co-curator and new media artist Joseph Mougel will be in the gallery on Wednesday, February 3^rd, to speak about his work as part of the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts’ 1^st Wednesdays at Noon artist series. Mougel’s creative research draws on his service in the U.S. Marine Corps as he applies photographic sensibilities to a field-based practice, employing landscape interventions and ritualistic activities to address contemporary concerns surrounding land use, labor issues, and individual identity. The 1^st Wednesdays at Noon series includes a complimentary  light lunch. The Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries are located at 552 W Wood St, West Lafayette, IN, in Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue. All Galleries’ exhibitions are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm, and Thursdays 10 am – 7 pm.

1^st Wednesdays @ Noon is presented in association with Piano Solutions of Indianapolis and the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts
