Undergraduate Juried Exhibition!

Join us Thursday, February 25th, for the opening reception and awards ceremony for the annual Undergraduate Exhibition. $1800 in prizes will be awarded to Purdue art students. The reception begins at 5 pm, with awards announced at 5:30 pm.

1.Is the deadan’s detached, distant, analytical, banal approach somehow distill our cultural mood?
2. Does it represent the way people feel disconnected from one another, even if technology makes them more interconnected than ever?
3. And is deadpan photography a refuge or reflection of emotion when we are overwhelmed with terrorism, war, ecological and natural disaster?
4. Does its uniformity of the style reflect our mass-produced, chain-store world?
5. Has our ability to document just about anything made us do just that...

Hello A&D!

We are now accepting entries for the annual Art and Design Undergraduate Exhibition *and* the next Westwood. Interested students should bring their work to the galleries. All entry forms are available onsite. Key points below:

·         We are accepting entries Monday – Wednesday, 10 am – 5 pm.

·         Students can submit entries for one or both opportunities; entry is separate for each competition.

·         The Undergraduate Exhibition is limited to undergraduate students, and work must have been created for an A&D course.

·         Westwood entries can be any medium, do not have to have been created for an A&D course, and graduate students are also eligible to enter.

·         Timing is such that works can be exhibited in both shows – there is no conflict.

Let me know if you have any questions. Details can be found on the Rueff Galleries website and in the galleries. Please encourage your students to enter! So far, my limited and informal polling suggests that students have not yet heard about these opportunities from their instructors. Please share!!

Also, we are meeting at WTHR Hall at 7:30 for Dick Blau's talk on Wednesday instead of meeting at 5:30 for the class.
